Early field with beautifully developed Troy11-05-2012
Broer B.V. delivered these overwintering onion sets to the grower in the South West of the Netherlands last October. The sets were planted almost immediately after delivery, when the conditions were good.
The sets have survived the winter and have developed into strong plants, despite the exceptionally low temperatures in early February. Hardly any plants were lost due to the frost, and the strong onion plants have already started to form bulbs.
This field of Troy will be one of the first Dutch onion fields to be ready for harvest, because the cold spring slowed down the development of the early spring planted onion sets. All in all, the yield expectations are very optimistic.
